The Liberty Theatre in Washington, Indiana was at 10 E. Main Street. It was opened in 1916 by Harry and Nova Vonderschmitt as a silent movie theater and for stage acts. Switow and Sons from Louisville, Kentucky reopened the theater in 1937 after it had been closed for several years. The theater permanently closed in 1946. When the building was slated to be demolished in 1960, the 500 seats in the theater were removed and taken to Montgomery, Indiana and used in the Montgomery High School's gymnasium. |
