A copy of an undated newspaper (ca. 1937) advertisement about movies playing at the Indiana Theatre at 415 E. Main Street in Washington, Indiana. The main feature was "Stowaway" a 1936 musical starring Shirley Temple. Two other newspaper pages list the movies showing at the Indiana Theatre and the two other theaters in Washington, the Liberty Theatre at 10 E. Main Street and the Temple Court Theatre at 103 E. Main Street. According to the 1936 Washington City Directory, Earl H. Payne was the manager of the Liberty and Indiana Theaters. Mr. Payne lived at 210 N.E. 5th Street in Washington with his wife, Juna Payne. Harry M. Palmer was the manager of Temple Court Theatre and he lived at 15 S.E. 7th Street in Washington with his wife, Louise Palmer. |
