A copy of an undated newspaper advertisement (ca. 1941) about movies playing at two theaters in Washington, Indiana, the Indiana Theatre at 415 E. Main Street and the Liberty Theatre at 10 E. Main Street. The main feature at the Indiana was "The Lady Eve," a 1941 screwball comedy starring Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck. Another feature at the Indiana was the showing of the heavyweight boxing championship fight on June 18, 1941 between Joe Louis and William "Billy" Conn. Louis knocked Conn out in the 13th round to retain his championship. |
