Mr. Luder was born in Basel, Switzerland. He and his family immigrated to Tuscola County, Michigan in 1884. He graduated in 1905 from the Illinois College of Photography, Effingham, Illinois. Luder came to Washington, Indiana and opened his photography business, Luder Photo Studio, in 1907. He operated the studio until he retired on January 1, 1963. |

Thelma L. (Bratcher) Bingham worked for Mr. Luder as his receptionist from 1935 to 1941. From 1976 to 1995 Mrs. Bingham was Curator at the Daviess County Museum for 19 years and she donated a large collection of Luder photographs to the Museum. In 2023 Deborah (Luder) Gallaway, the granddaughter of Charles and Fannie Luder donated to the Daviess County Museum a flash drive with 174 scanned images of photos and documents collected by Charles Luder during his life. Most of the photos on the flash drive were taken by Charles Luder. |
