Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the Civil War having served in 70th Indiana Infantry Regiment and later the 33rd Indiana Infantry Regiment from 1861 to 1865. Before and after the war, he was a farmer in Daviess County, Indiana. He was Mayor of Washington, Indiana from 1884 to 1886. |
