Occupation	Robert Russell was a carpenter until 1888. Robert gave up the trade after being elected as Trustee of Washington Township in Daviess County, Indiana. He was Mayor of Washington from 1906 to 1910.
Notes	Robert moved into the Daviess County area in 1870. He married in Daviess County on November 20, 1872, to Mary S. Meredith, the daughter of Squire B. Meredith.

Relationships	Robert R. Russell was born in Ireland, and Catherine Cochran was also Irish. Family moved to Gallatin County, Kentucky soon after Robert Russell was born. Robert R. was a silversmith all of his life. Catherine and Robert R. had nine children, before she died in 1867.
Titles & honors	Robert's first public service was a member of the town council, as he was elected in 1878. Mr. Russell was elected Trustee of Washington Township in Daviess County, Indiana in 1888. In 1894 he was elected Auditor of Daviess County. Mr. Russell was the past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge, Past High Priest of the Chapter, Past Eminent Commander of Commandery, and was at times a member of the Grand Lodge.
