George D. Abraham moved to Odon, Indiana in 1866 and became a leading hardware merchant. In 1888 he sold his buisness in Odon and moved to Elnora, Indiana and opened the first store in Elnora after the arrival of the railroad. He returned to Odon and built the first brick store in that town. |

From 1862 to 1865 during the Civil War, George D. Araham enlisted in Company I of the 65th Indiana Regiment. His regiment was with Sherman's Army when it captured Atlanta, Georgia in 1864. His regiment also participated in the battles of Franklin and Nashville in 1864. Mr. Abraham mustered out of the army on June 22, 1865. |
