Several items from the Graham Farms and Graham Cheese Co. in Daviess County Indiana. This includes an small blue and grey dish, paper hats, cheese labels, postcards and fair ribbons and a feed sack with yellow red and white flower print probably during the depression era. These items were all found in collection. The Graham brothers, Robert, Joseph and Ray, from Washington, Indiana were involved with several different business ventures. In 1913 the Grahams built a bottle producing plant in Evansville, Indiana. They sold the bottle business in 1916 Owens Bottle Co. In 1919 they formed the Graham Brothers Truck Co. and had a 500,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Evansville where they built a full line of trucks and buses. In 1924 Dodge Brothers Co. bought control of Graham Brothers Truck Co. and moved the truck production to Detroit. In 1927 the Graham brothers bought the Paige-Detroit Motor Co., renamed it Graham-Paige, and began making Graham automobiles in Detroit. The Grahams built a plant in Evansville to make the bodies for the Graham automobiles. Production stopped with the coming of World War II and never resumed. Graham-Paige Co. was sold to Joseph W. Frazer and Henry J. Kaiser in 1947. |
