Photograph of the 1954-1955 boys basketball team at Sugarland School about two miles north of Washington, Indiana. Also in the photo are four girl cheerleaders and the coach, Hugh Jones (standing, far right). The names of the students are listed on the reverse. The No. 6 Consolidated Sugarland School was constructed in 1914 and was designed for grades one through eight. It was first used during the 1914-1915 school year. In 1967-1968 grades seven and eight were transferred to the Washington Junior High School. The next year the school was closed and the building was demolished. This is one item in the Sugarland School Collection that may be viewed in the Research Room of the Daviess County Museum. |
