Copy of an undated photograph with a caption (ca. 1937) of the store front of the William Beck Agency at 11 N.E. 3rd Street in Washington, Indiana. The real estate, insurance and loan business was founded in 1887 by William Beck (1862-1916) when he moved to Washington. He was born on November 14, 1862, in Illinois. He married Sadie Tranter on August 29, 1889. After Mr. Beck passed away in 1916, his business was carried on by his son and daughter, William Evart Beck (1899-1970) and Doris Beck (1890-1977). When the agency closed in 1973, it was the oldest insurance and real estate agency in Washington. |
