Description |
Undated photograph (ca. 1918) of Crystal E. McCord (1897-1918) in her U. S. Army Nurses Corps uniform. A nurse from Washington, Indiana, she volunteered to serve in U.S. Army Nurses Corps during World War I. In 1918 she was sent to a hospital in France just 10 miles from the front where she cared for sick and wounded soldiers. She contracted Spanish Flu and died December 18, 1918. She is buried in France. |
