Description |
Two copies of an undated color photograph (ca. 1990-2000) of an Evans Vanishing Door Wardrobe at the former Jefferson School on Donaldson Road in Washington, Indiana. The wardrobe was manufactured by the W. Lewis Evans Company in Washington and was installed when the Jefferson School was constructed in 1923. The large Evans manufacturing plant, owned by William Lewis Evans, was located on Mill and South Streets and on the 700 block of East Main Street in Washington. Mr. Evans and his wife, Nellie J. Evans, lived at 709 E. Main Street in Washington and their home was adjacent to the Evans manufacturing facility. Jefferson School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 20, 1997. |
