Scanned copies of pages from a photograph album about A. J. Kalberer, the East 50 Drive In and the Indiana Theatre in Washington, Indiana. A. J. Kalerer managed the Indiana Theatre on Main Street in Washington for 40 years from 1938 to 1978. He also managed the East 50 Drive In after it opened in 1958. Mr. Kalberer retired in 1978. In the back of the album are two "Washington Times-Herald" newspapers. The September 20, 2005 edition announced the reopening of the "historical [Indiana] Theatre" after a fire on September 18 caused damage to the theater. The December 10, 2010 edition reported the closing of the Indiana Theatre on December 12. In 2023 Blaine Kalberer, the grandson of A. J. Kalberer, allowed the Daviess County Museum to scan the album pages into the Museum's collection. |
