Description |
Three 1945 photographs of Cathy (Cate) Hart, the oldest daughter of Ray Leonard Hart (1922-2007) and Fay (Wentzell) Hart (1924-2024). Ray and Fay were married in 1944 while Ray was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Ray was discharged on October 3, 1945 at Great Lakes, Illinois. He took a train to Portland, Maine where he reunited with his wife and saw for the first time his 11 month old daughter, Cathy. The three of them then took a train to Washington, Indiana, Ray's hometown, where they resided. The first two photos are of Cathy with her paternal grandmother, Cdv (Leonard) Hart (1902-2005). The fourth image is the writing on the back of the first photo. In Washington Ray and Fay owned and operated Chat and Nibble restaurant and later Blue Bird Cafe. These photos were part of a large collection donated in 2025 to the Daviess County Museum by Ray and Fay's daughter, Cate (Hart) Hyatt. |
