Description |
An undated studio photograph of William Homer Myers (1876-1945). He was an educator for 45 years. He began his career teaching at schools in Reeve and Barr Townships of Daviess County, Indiana. He taught at Southside School in Washington from 1930 to 1932. In 1932 he became principal at the West End School on West Van Trees Street in Washington. He held that position until October 23, 1945 when he died from injuries sustained in a two vehicle automobile collision at the intersection of highways 50 and 57 in Washington. An editorial in a Washington newspaper following his death claimed the 50/57 intersection was a "dangerous crossing" and that a "flasher signal" needed to be installed "to warn approaching drivers of motor vehicles." Homer Myers was married to Phoebe C. (Porter) Myers and they had four children. See newspaper articles about Mr. Myers' death in Stella Bogner's Scrapbook 9, pp. 37-38, 2019.FIC.0200.0012 in Archives. |
