1941 photograph of students, Richard "Dickie" Hill, William "Bill" Wathen, Peter "Pete" Bresh, standing outside the Jefferson School in Washington, Indiana. Written on the reverse is "#1593" which is a reference to the Thelma Bingham books at the Daviess County Museum. She wrote this photo was part of a collection of school photos donated to the Museum by Betty Fields. The two story, red brick Jefferson School was located on Donaldson Road. The school was built in 1923 and was used for grades 1 to 8 until 1978. The Daviess County Museum was housed in the former school from 1978 to 2005. Jefferson School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 20, 1997. |
