Undated black and white photograph (ca. 1971-1978) of Virginia Beasley, matron at the Daviess County Jail, and Donald Chestnut, Deputy Sheriff at the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, in Washington, Indiana. The two women on the left are unidentified. Virginia Beasley was the wife Everett Beasley who was elected four times (four years each term) as Sheriff of Daviess County and was a prominent Republican politician. By Indiana law one person can not serve more than two consecutive terms as Sheriff. Donald Chestnut ran for Sheriff as a Republican and was elected for one four year term between the first two terms and the last two terms that Sheriff Beasley was elected. |
