Description |
Two undated photographs (ca. 1985-1990) of William Alonzo "Bill" Greene holding a WAMW radio banner in front of Greene Electronics at 104 E. Main Street in Washington, Indiana. Mr. Greene owned Greene Electronics. He was responsible for reestablishing WAMW and WFML radio stations in Washington. These photos were likely taken shortly after Bill Greene purchased WAMW and brought it back to Washington. See 2025.FIC.0001 in Archives for a two part newspaper article, written by Dennis Daily, about the complicated history of WAMW-WFML. Both stations were created in Washington: WFML in 1948 and WAMW in 1957. Bob Green bought the two stations in 1986 and moved both to Vincennes. After Bill Greene bought WAMW, the FCC added 107.9 on the FM dial and Mr. Greene received a license to use 107.9 as the WFML radio station in Washington. |
