Summary |
"A Historical Sketch of Washington, Indiana" by Carlton C. Brayfield and published in 1885 by The Democrat Printing House in Washington, Indiana. The pamphlet provides the history of Washington, Indiana which was established in 1817. The first section of the paper back pamphlet (p. 1) is entitled "Liverpool, or Washington" and the second paragraph reads: "In the early part of 1817 Emanuel Van Trees and Peter Wilkens laid out the town and named it Liverpool, and in May of the same year they donated lands on which to erect county buildings, the county of Daviess having been organized by an act of the Territorial Legislature in 1816." The cost of the pamphlet was 15 cents. On the back of the pamphlet at the top is written, "#883" and "belonged to Judge David J. Hefron." |
