Alva O. Fulkerson was a prominent teacher and educator in Daviess County, Indiana. He taught in district schools and served as principal at Southside School in Washington and at Raglesville, Staunton and Elnora, Indiana. He taught history at Washigton High School for five years. In January 1911 he was elected as the Daviess County Superintendent of Schools. |

Alva Fulkerson spent one term at the Southern Indiana Normal College in Mitchell, Indiana, one year at DePauw University and graduated from Indiana State Normal School at Terre Haute, Indiana in 1893. He also graduated from Indiana University in 1897 and did post-graduate work at Chicago University in 1910. |
