Various articles, copies of letters, reports and other documents about the open house conducted by both St. Simon Catholic Church and St. Mary Catholic Church on October 18, 1964. These items are part of a large collection of photos and records donated to the Daviess County Museum in 2012 from St. Simon Catholic Church in Washington, Indiana. The construction of St. Simon Catholic Church was completed in 1886. In 2008 the two Catholic parishes in Washington, St. Mary and St Simon, were merged and named Our Lady of Hope. St. Mary Catholic Church was demolished in 2010 and the ground on which it stood along with the rectory and the St. Mary School were sold. |
