Copy of 1980 newspaper article about the violence that occurred during a strike by union employees of U.S. Railway Equipment Co. Division of Evans Transportation Co. (Evans Railcar) in Washington, Indiana. The article reported, "The result has been the worst wave of violence anyone in [Washington] can remember." Governor Otis R. Bowen ordered 50 riot-trained policeman into Washington to assist the City and County police. This was one item in a large collection donated by Robert A. Brothers in 2019 to the Daviess County Museum. |
