Undated, thirteen page report (ca. 2005-2010) written by James W. Pirkle (1935-2020) about the funeral profession in Daviess County, Indiana. Included is a history of the embalming process to preserve corpses. Mr. Pirkle's report discusses prominent funeral directors in Daviess County. Mr. Pirkle purchased Gill Funeral Home in Washington, Indiana on January 1, 1974. Mr. Pirkle was a long-time member of the Board of Trustees for the Daviess County Historical Society which operates the Daviess County Museum. In 2009 he designed and funded an elaborate and unique funeral exhibit on the 4th floor of the Museum. |
