1972 newspaper article Looking Backward 50 years and 25 years. In 1922 the Washington City council awarded contract for construction of cluster lights in the business district. Rotarians will visit Plainville Christian Church for a meeting. Eighteen members of the Ku Klux Klan drove up to the Odon Christian Church just as Sunday morning services closed and asked the Rev. Russel Gwin for permission to speak. The trailing hounds of Cornwell and Jackson of Bedford were used to track down thieves who broke in and robbed the store of Michael Lundergan at Montgomery. In 1947 it was announced that poultryless and eggless Thursday will continue. Dr. S. L. McPherson and Dr. MacGuyer Porter received certificates of distinction and gold lapel pins at the Indiana State Medical Society meeting in French Lick. |
