This four page, handwritten report provides a significant amount of demographic information about Washington, Indiana in 1876. It lists the city officials, the names of policeman, the number of males and females in the city with a breakdown by age, the number of businesses in the city, and the names of the Washington School Trustees. According to Mr. Morin, in Washington in 1876 there were 1018 males over the age of 21 and 1045 females over the age of 21, 13 lawyers, 16 doctors, 20 saloon keepers, 176 miners, 13 barbers, and 7 churches. |
