Scrapbook compiled by an unidentified person of newspaper articles published in 1941, 1942 and 1943 about people from Daviess County, Indiana who served in the military during World War II. Many of the articles concern men who were killed or captured. Orville Strange from Washington, 20 years old in the U.S.Navy, was Daviess County's first fatality of WW II when he was killed during the attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Also included in the first part of album are several "Rookie Joe" cartoons. |
