August 22, 1941 edition of The Elnora Tribune newspaper (4 pages). It was published every Friday in Elnora, Indiana. S. J. Richardson was the Editor and Paul D. Richardson was the Publisher. In the "Take it or Leave it" column on the front page, Mr. Richardson opined: "We may be just plain dumb, but we are sticking to our story, that this country has no business getting into this foreign war-and they tell us that we are already in it! However, we will agree that the politicians and war lords have been working night and day to get us into old England's fight!" Mr. Richardson's editoral was written just three months before the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor that brought the United States into World War II. In the upper left corner of the front page is a small label on which is printed, "Maggie Boyd." In 2024 Carol Nugent allowed the Daviess County Museum to scan this newspaper into its collection. |
