1955-1956 scrapbook of Chapter No. 210, Order of Eastern Star in Washington, Indiana. Viola J. Fisher was the Worthy Matron. Marjorie Elmore was the Associate Matron. The Order of the Eastern Star was founded in 1850 by Dr. Robert Morris and his wife, Charlotte Mendenhall Morris. It is a large, worldwide fraternal organization for both men and women. Originally, it was open to female relatives of Master Masons (wives, daughters, sisters, mothers and widows). Today, men who are Master Masons are also welcome to join as are some youth groups like Job's Daughters and Rainbow Girls. |
