Large ledger with 402 pages of handwritten entries of marriages in Daviess County, Indiana from 1938 to 1944. In the front there is an alphabetized list of each husband. The entries for each marriage provide a wealth of genealogical data including the "Groom's Name," "Bride's Name," their ages and "Color," "Occupation," "Birthplace," "Residence," "Name of Father" and "Maiden Name of Mother" for both the Groom and the Bride, "Place of Marriage and "Witnesses." Dr. William O. McKittrick was the Daviess County Health Commissioner until December 31, 1941. Dr. E. Brayton Smoot became the Health Commissioner on January 1, 1941. The names listed in the People Field are only a small fraction of all the names listed in this record. |
