Copy of the August 1, 1955 newspaper column, "History Miniatures," by Russell Colbert about Judge David McDonald (1803-1869). McDonald was born in Kentucky and moved to Daviess County, Indiana in 1817. In October 1828 he married Mary R. Miller. He became a lawyer in 1830. In 1838 he was elected Judge of the Tenth Circuit Court which included Greene, Lawrence, Owen, Monroe, Brown, Martin and Daviess counties. He served as Judge of the Tenth Circuit until 1853. In 1854 he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and entered a law practice with Albert C. Porter who was later governor of Indiana from 1881 to 1885. In 1864 President Abraham Lincoln appointed McDonald Judge of the U.S. District Court. |
