Scope & Content |
A two part newspaper article, written by Dennis M. Daily (1947-2024) and printed December 28, 1989 and January 4, 1990 in the Tri-County News, about WAMW-WFML, the two radio stations in Washington, Indiana. Dennis Daily graduated in 1965 from Washington Catholic High School. He started working at WAMW-WFML in 1965 as an announcer while still in high school. Mr. Daily went on to have a career in radio broadcasting and journalism. He gives a detailed history of the establishment of WFML in 1948 and WAMW in 1957. He writes about the complicated FCC license process, the various programs and different radio announcers, and the convoluted ownership history of the radio stations. When Bob Green bought the two stations in 1986 he moved WAMW-WFML to Vincennes. Mr. Daily filed an application with the FCC to establish another FM station in Washington. In 1987 the FCC added 107.9 on the FM dial. William A. "Bill" Greene, who bought WAMW from Vincennes University, received an FCC license to use 107.9 as an FM station in Washington. Dennis Daily passed away December 30, 2024. |
