Two copies of the 1926 "Report Of Receipts and Expenses" for St. Simon Catholic Church in Washington, Indiana. Father John T. O'Hare was the pastor and Father Amos A McLoughlin and William J. Davis were the assistant pastors. Included is a alphabetized list of parishioners and the amounts each contributed to the church. On the next to last page is the 1926 financial statement for the church. On the last page is a financial report for the athletic department at the St. Simon School during school year 1926-1927. The names listed in the People Field are a small portion of the people referenced in this item. On the fifth page it was reported that Robert C. Graham made a $25,000 gift to purchase a new pipe organ for the church. St. Simon Catholic Church was constructed in 1886. In 2008 it was renamed Our Lady of Hope after the merger of St. Simon and St. Mary, the two Catholic parishes in Washington. This item was part of a large collection donated in 2012 to the Daviess County Museum by Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. |
