Undated newspaper article (ca. 1979) about the donation by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary of an American flag to the Daviess County Museum in Washington, Indiana. The Museum is operated by the Daviess County Historical Society that was established in 1966. The Museum's first location was the small Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) room in the basement of the Daviess County Courthouse. The Museum moved in 1969 to a one story, frame house at 305 East Walnut Street in Washington. In 1978 the Museum relocated to the former Jefferson School on Donaldson Road in Washington. In 2005 DCHS acquired the historic Masonic Lodge built in 1868 at 212 E. Main Street in Washington where the Museum is now located. |
