September 14, 1969 letter to William Brooks Allen with the Daviess County Historical Society from Robert M. Rennick, a Professor of Sociology at DePauw University. Professor Rennick thanked Mr. Allen for his response to Rennick's July 10, 1969 letter inquiring about the origin of the name for Cumback in Veale Township, Daviess County. See 2019.FIC.0963 in Archives. Cumback, Indiana is a rural, unincorporated community in Veale Township, Daviess County. The community was named for William Cumback, a U.S. Representative from Indiana. A post office was established at Cumback in 1881, but it was discontinued in 1905. |
