Advertisement in the Washington Times-Herald newspaper about the June 21, 1972 auction of "20 rooms of furnishings" at the St. Simon Convent, formerly the St. Simon Academy for Girls, at 202 E. Hefron Street in Washington, Indiana. The brick building, adjacent to the St. Simon Catholic Church, was demolished in July 1972. See 2021.FIC.0165 in Archives. The construction of St. Simon Catholic Church was completed in 1886. In 2008 the church was renamed Our Lady of Hope after the merger of St. Simon and St. Mary, the two Catholic parishes in Washington. This item was part of a large collection donated in 2012 to the Daviess County Museum by Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. |
