Scope & Content |
Undated newspaper article by Ron Arvin (ca. 1955-1960) about the donation to the Daviess County Museum in Washington, Indiana of the manuscript of the book, "Beekeeping On the Lincoln Trial," by Stephen H. Burton (1872-1960). Although there were chapters in Mr. Burton's book about beekeeping, much of the book was about "evidence" the Thomas Lincoln family, including 21 year old Abraham, traveled through Daviess County in 1830 when moving from Southern Indiana to Illinois. Mr. Burton's source for this evidence was two pamphlets published in 1931 by Austin T. Hixon and Ezra Mattingly. See 2020.FIC.0619 and 2020.FIC.0619.0001 in Library. Catalogers note: This clipping was found inside "Cosby Family Records, Vol. One," (1981) by Don Simmons when it was cataloged on January 15, 2023. See 2023.FIC.0013 in Library. The cataloger was unable to locate Mr. Burton's beekeeping manuscript in the Museum's collection. |
