The volunteers at the Daviess County Museum strive to be as accurate as possible when cataloging the Museum's collection. But sometimes we have limited provenance about artifacts and often cannot identify people in photographs. If you have more information about any item in the Museum's online collection, we encourage you to share that knowledge with us.

1889 typewritten 16 page report by John Kelley of Washington, Indiana entitled: "Catholic Pioneers/A Sketch Of The Parishes, Priests And Peoples Of Daviess And Martin Counties, Indiana." The entire report is about the priests and parishioners of St. Peter's Church in Montgomery, Indiana. Page 4 of the report lists various parishioners who paid "pew rent" to "the highest bider" based on regulations published February 28, 1841. This report was included in a large collection belonging to Clifford and Thelma Bingham who for 19 years were resepectively the Director and Curator at the Daviess County Museum. These documents were given to the Daviess County Museum in 2018 by the Washington Carnegie Library.
