February 28, 1938 edition (4 pages) of "The W.H.S. Horizon," the student newspaper published at Washington High School in Washington, Indiana. The editor was Ruth I. Canary. A front page story announced that tryouts were held on February 24 for the Junior Class play, "Heading for Eden," to be held April 1. Also on the front page it was reported Vera Chapman was voted by her classmates as "the most popular Senior girl." The 1937-1938 Hatchet basketball team was having a down year. The scores for each game played that season were listed on page 3. The Hatchets were 1-18. The Sectional Tourney was set to begin March 3. "Fuzzy" Gines, the sports editor, wrote optimistically, "The Hatchets will win if you back them." |
