Undated newspaper article (ca. 1892) about the Bourgholtzer photography studio at 15 E. Main Street in Washington, Indiana. James H. Bourgholtzer came to Washington in 1885. He built his residence and studio ("The Ground Floor Gallery") at 15 E. Main in 1891. This item was part of a large collection donated to the Daviess County Museum in 2021 by Ray Patterson, a retired professional photographer in Washington. Mr. Patterson's studio was a 15 E. Main Street. See 2018.FIC.0245 for a different photo of Mr. Bourgholtzer's studio. A photography studio was operated at 15 E. Main Street continuously for more than a hundred years by four consecutive owners: James Bourgholtzer, Spencer Bourgholtzer, Norma Horrall and Ray Patterson. |
