Undated Platinum Circle Certificate (ca. 2000) given to Fay (Wentzell) Ledbetter (1924-2024) for 70 years of "steadfast devotion to the virtues of Beta Sigma Phi" sorority. Ms. Ledbetter was born in Maine, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Morley and Goldie Wentzell. In 1944 she married Ray Leonard Hart (1922-2007) from Washington, Indiana while he was in the U.S. Navy. After Ray was discharged from the Navy, Ray and Fay moved to Washington and owned and operated Chat and Nibble restaurant and later Blue Bird Cafe. They had three daughters, Cathy "Cate" (Hart) Hyatt, Cynthia (Hart) Delaney and Judy (Hart) McCamment. Fay later married Joe Hardeman Ledbetter (1923-1994). Also included are Beta Sigma Phi jewelry and mementos collected by Ms. Ledbetter. The certificate and jewelry were part of a large collection donated in 2025 to the Daviess County Museum by Ray and Fay's daughter, Cate (Hart) Hyatt. |
