April 1876 handwritten note from an anonymous author to Nelson James Purcell, owner of a general store in Cumback, Veale Township, Daviess County, Indiana, warning Mr. Purcell that his store was going to be robbed. The note was kept in an envelope on which Lydia (Purcell) Myers, the granddaughter of Mr. Purcell, transcribed the warning. Mr. Purcell was a Civil War veteran having served in the Union Army with Company E of the 27th Indiana Infantry Regiment.
